Twin City Grill offers a sanctuary from the trials and tribulations of MOA shopping. The dark wood paneling, yawning booths, and black and white vintage photos convey a sense of the 1940’s steakhouse that was the inspiration. They have a Midwestern-style menu with creative MN faves like walleye nuggets and steaming wildrice chowder. It’s an adult-take on a kid-friendly place, serving breakfast all day long, including the guilt-inspiring Andrew’s killer banana waffle. You’ll want reservations, though, because it gets packed. They do have fast service if you have to wait, however—they get you in and outta there because it’s at the mall afterall…

This is a steak house that's trying to be like a Manny's or Morton's, but open to the MOA crowd. The tenderloin and prime rib tasted good and were prepared correctly (medium rare). The mushrooms were decent, and fresh. But the mashed potatoes were a glutinous mess and the creamed spinach had a tasteless flour-based sauce. The bernaise sauce only hinted of tarragon and was slightly curdled. The server was attentive. Wine list was decent (hey, they had a Viogner) but pours were average. The back room, where we sat, had odd smoke-colored mirrors. One of these didn't reflect quite right, and I suspect it was a two-way mirror. When I'm at MOA next, and I need to eat, I'm going to try someplace else. Cross this one off my list.
